Thomas Edward Jackiewicz, MPH ’94, recently appointed chief executive officer of the UC San Diego Medical Center

Thomas Edward Jackiewicz, MPH ’94 was recently appointed chief executive officer of the UC San Diego Medical Center, where he is responsible for the management of the Hillcrest Medical Center, Thornton Hospital, Moores UCSD Cancer Center, Shiley Eye Center and the Sulpizio Family Cardiovascular Center, scheduled for completion in 2011. He previously served as Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer for Health Sciences at the University of California, San Diego.

Mr. Jackiewicz earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia, and received his MPH from the Mailman School’s Executive MPH program. During his career, he served as chief operating officer of Columbia University Medical Center, senior associate chair for finance and administration at the Stanford University School of Medicine, director of finance and administration for Oregon Health Sciences University and director of business and financial operations at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.

In addition, Mr. Jackiewicz has served as the National Chair of the American Association of Medical Colleges Group on Business Affairs, and is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the University HealthSystem Consortium.
