Alliance for Healthcare Management Case-Challenge Winners Announced

untitled

From Paul Thurman:

Our second-annual Case Challenge comprised six teams with all students this
year coming from the Mailman School of Public Health (including participants
from both first-year and second-year MPH, EMPH, and COTJ programs).

Our panel of judges–comprising faculty and recent graduates from the Mailman School (EMPH) and from our two sponsors, the Hay Group and CIGNA–were unanimous in their praise for all competing teams. Although only half of the teams move on to the final round, all provided top-notch analyses and professional presentations.

The results of our second-annual Case Challenge team competition are as follows. Each winning team member/individual will receive an award certificate and an American Express Gift Card:

FIRST PLACE TEAM ($100 gift check for each team member):

R. Schwabacher and E. Wilkens (EMPH)

SECOND PLACE TEAM ($50 gift check for each team member):

D. Yagoda, S. Hoschander, and S. Gonzales (MPH)

THIRD PLACE TEAM ($25 gift check for each team member):

J. Mai, S. Bakhsh, M. Dewitt, and D. Hansen (MPH)

MOST INNOVATIVE SOLUTION/TEAM ($50 gift card for each team member):

R. Schwabacher and E. Wilkens (EMPH)
Three individual awards were also given:

BEST INDIVIDUAL PRESENTER ($100 gift card to each recipient): THE JUDGES
PRESENTED TWO AWARDS THIS YEAR!

J. Huang and S. Hoschander (both MPH)

BEST INDIVIDUAL QUESTION-AND-ANSWER ($100 gift card):

A. Attaie (EMPH)

We congratulate all the winners from this year’s competition, and we hope to
see more of you next year!

Many thanks to our wonderful judges and sponsors (CIGNA and The Hay Group),
and we look forward to seeing you in next year’s competition: Bryan Miller
(CIGNA), Ian Wilcox (The Hay Group), Dr. Mitch Adler (EMPH graduate), Paula
Wilson (Columbia and NYU), John Winkelman (Mt. Sinai Board member and
Mailman lecturer), Greg Maddrey (Chartis Capital and recent EMPH graduate), Angela Profeta (consultant and recent MPH graduate), and Cindy Durning (VP of Human Resources at Columbia University).

Finally, the winning presentations will be posted (as .pdf files) on the
Alliance website later this week. The Alliance website is at
http://cahm.columbia.edu and contains information on the three sponsoring
schools and healthcare programs, dual-degree information, and affiliated
faculty.
